Your children will learn and participate in fun activities while you enjoy the Sunday Service from 10:30 to 11:30 each Sunday. Spiritual Education classes are available for children 3 to 12 years old.
WHO WE ARE: As a spiritual youth community, we provide a safe place of love and acceptance where our children increase their awareness of God as ever present and accessible. We follow the Living Curriculum philosophy developed by the Association of Unity Churches International:
“The vision of A Living Curriculum is to empower children and youth to use their spiritual wisdom to fulfill their soul’s purpose; to empower parents to see themselves as the primary spiritual educators of their children and youth; to empower facilitators to see education as a process, through which they effectively support the unfolding of the child’s spiritual nature and model the living of the spiritual principles….”
WHAT WE BELIEVE: Unity’s 5 Basic Principles (for children)
- God is all good and active in everything, everywhere.
- I am naturally good because God’s divinity is in me and in everyone.
- I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.
- Through affirmative prayer and meditation I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.
- I do and give my best by living the Truth I know. I make a difference.
A TYPICAL SUNDAY LESSON INCLUDES:
Opening Circle: A time of community building, giving, affirmative prayer, and/or meditation.
Music, Movement, or Play Activity: In play activities our facilitators lovingly interact with younger members affirming the Christ presence within them.
Story Sharing: An experience, such as the reading of a story, which is used to create common ground among the children.
Discussion: The use of a questioning strategy that engages the learner in an exploration of the story and how it reflects spiritual principles and relates to their life.
Creative Experience: The children are then invited into creative experiences that allow them time to personally explore the ideas.
Sharing and Closing: Children gather in a closing circle and share ideas, experiences, and creations, if they choose. We end with a closing prayer, affirmation, and/or song.
For the safety of the children, we perform a criminal background check on all volunteers who work with our children.
